Our tour will begin at the port of Tangier from which we will head south. The Group will visit Chefchaouen where all the buildings in the Old Town are painted blue. We will have time to take in the Leather and weaving workshops that line its steep cobbled lanes. In the shady main square of Outa el Hammam is the red-walled Kasbah, a 15th-century fortress and dungeon, From here it’s onto the Riff this is a mainly mountainous region of northern Morocco, with some fertile plains, stretching from Cape Spartel and Tangier in the west to Berkane and the Melwiyya River in the east
Our next port of call is Fes which is the most north-eastern Moroccan city often referred to as the country’s cultural capital. It’s primarily known for its Fes El Bali walled medina, with medieval Marinid architecture, vibrant souks and old-world atmosphere. So where to next, Plateau de Rekkamis is our next waypoint, this campsite offers a good clean restaurant with washing facilities, but this is where your experience of true adventure begins! This part of Morocco opens up into an endless Plato and is home to the Bedouin traveller’s and their camps. At this point you have a great chance of seeing them moving with their camels through the dried up river beds. From here you will able to put your skills to the test with driving in real sand dunes and of course recovery technic’s…. we will plan to find a secluded campsite for the evening where god willing, the Moroccan god will be kind to us and show us the stars as we have never seen them before.
Erg Chebbi is our next destination, a fantastic Oasis with more sand driving and a chance to relax in a hotel for the night as we take in the Moroccan life style! We will have a full day of rest before heading on to follow the great Gorges of Morocco, Troda Gorge, Gorges du Dadès, Todgha Gorge
The journey continues with a trip into Ouarzazate which is the main city South of Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains, known as a gateway to the Sahara Desert. It’s huge Taourirt Kasbah, home to a 19th-century palace this is where our journey really takes on a new dimension, from here we will head up into the High Atlas Mountains and explore the trails that traverse this great mountain range as we take the same routes herders and nomads have taken for centuries before us. Whilst we are in the mountain where we will seek out the Ait Atta Berber nomads who live in these parts with their colourful dress wear!!
Marrakesh is next on our list and here we will visit the tanneries and other traditional textiles, pottery and jewellery industry. A symbol of the city and visible for miles, is the Moorish minaret of 12th-century Koutoubia Mosque.
We are now heading back North taking in Cassablanca and stopping at Rabat both on the Atlantic coast as we travel back to the Ports for our journey home.
