Once in Portugal we will head into the National Parks as we travel though this park land we will be heading for our 1st set of mountain trails that will take us on a magnificent journey through this overlander's heaven. The Portuguese are some of the hospitable in Europe and have welcomed travellers for hundreds of years, not to mention the food is stunning.

Portugal has some of the most unbelievable off-roading Europe has to offer.You will find yourself mesmerised with houses built from solid rock and coast lines that are wrapped with golden sands. We will find ourselves driving some of the most fantastic drovers trails that meander through the most awe inspiring views.

The Portuguese love motorsport and welcome 4x4s with open arms the mountains are criss-crossed with some off the best lane accessibility in Europe, Making Portugal a fantastic destination for the more thoroughbred overlander, join Compass Adventures as we embark on a mesmerising tour of this stunning Country.

No trip to Portugal is complete without a visit to Tomar the home of the Knights Templar’s, this is truly a magnificent town the The convent was founded by the Order of Poor Knights of the Temple (or Templar Knights) in 1118.[1] Its construction continued until the final part of the 12th century with the construction of the oratory, in one of the angles of the castle, completed by the Grand Master D. Gualdim Pais (sometime around 1160).
Just out side the walls of the convent sit the pretty little church of Santa Maria do Olival

The church was built in the second half of the 12th century by the provincial master of the Order of the Knights Templar in Portugal, Gualdim Pais. It was used as a burial place for the Knights Templar of Tomar and, later, by the Knights of the Order of Christ, which succeeded the Templars in the 14th century.

 I would rate this trip at a mild to medium so any Vehicle with  ATs would be fine.  Can I  remind you that you will be carrying all your supplies, so good spring rates are paramount .....this is applicable for all vehicles on this trip. The lead vehicle will be well equipped carrying emergency equipment for the group this will include iridium sat phone, tyre repair equipment, full wilderness responder kit including comprehensive burns kit.

Once confirmation has been received of your attendance,  you will be sent joining instructions and a list of equipment you will need.

Tour only cost is £700 

With the tour only cost you are responsible for your ferries and camping costs on the island, none of the ferry costs are included on any part of the tour.

This  trip is completly family friendly and is a great way to get the  children away for some fresh air
